Katya Medvedeva — visual artist. Born in Tobolsk in 1992. Based in Saint Petersburg since 2014.
In her artistic practice, she explores corporeality, focusing on hypochondria, the fear of death, the process of withering, and aging.
Based on the philosophy of transhumanism, futurism, and cybernetics, the artist explores both scientific concepts of the posthuman and the cultural myths surrounding the technological transformation of the body. Her works are an attempt to define the boundaries of humanity in an era of biotechnological identity construction.
Also within the scope of artistic interests is the exploration of the relationship between person and place, the notion of home.
In addition to photography, works with family photo archive, found artifacts, natural objects. She uses collage techniques. She creates zines and photo books.
